We have finally made it to South Australia!! Mount Gambier is a very interesting and pretty place. Apparently, when you get a giant sink hole in the middle of your town, you plant a garden in the bottom and turn it into a tourist attraction. Lost of interesting geological facts and sights around town. We went on a day trip to Port McDonnell and nearly got blown back to QLD - just a bit breezy!!!
We are now following the Murray River (Southern side) inland to Berri, cross the river and then travel the Northern side back to Adelaide. Hopefully by then the weather will be a bit milder and the fish will come back. The Murray River is certainly a beautiful part of our Oz. Lots of free camps, and the council provides ferry crossings at various towns along the river.
We met up with some fellow travellers at Murray Bridge, they are on their way to Canberra (following the Murray). And guess what - they are local QLD's!! Both couples have lived at Karalee. Lovely people!!! We will be parting ways with them at Berri so - John & Julie, Barry & Susan, thanks for the wisdom, stories, craft sessions, happy hours and mostly, thanks for all the laughs, it has been a privilege travelling with you.
