The canopy and roof rack are on, the drawers are in, the boat motor is strapped down - just waiting on the tinnie and then we are good to go!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having a great time catching up with family and friends. We had a family outing to look at some xmas lights with our granddaughter, who, by the way is an angel and clearly takes after her deceptively young looking grandmother.
Do I miss work - NUP. Sure I miss some of the people, but work - NUP!!!!!
Have a great Christmas and a safe and happy new year everyone. Keep an eye out for all the photos of all the fish we are going to catch. XOXOXOX

Well, we are back in Ipswichville, hanging around until Christmas. There are a few things we need to do to the car, buy a tinnie and just spend some time with the family. Then we are off again heading south.
I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year. May all your dreams come true.
Stay tuned for the trip down south - starting soon!!!

We are staying a few days in Hervey Bay. Lots to see and do. The pier in the photo below is amazing - and yes, we walked to the end of it!!! Lots of people fishing off the pier all the way along. Lots of kids who should have been at school!!!! We also found a monument to 'Z' company - RC Page was my great uncle - very moving moment to just stumble across this beautiful recognition of their efforts.

Well, we have been busy - a few days in Bundaberg, lots to see there - had a steam train ride through the botanical gardens, visited the Hinkler museum, and the old Hinkler House, went to the rum factory it was closed :(, so went to the ginger beer factory!! Then we went on to Burnett Heads and then Elliott Heads. They were a bit disappointing, no beach, all rocks.......
Funny story from the Hinkler museum - they had a flight simulator thingy and I had to have a go. Don't worry, the skies are safe. I couldn't get the plane in the air, so I went for a taxi across the fields and ended up crashing into a farmers barn - looks like my career as a pilot is gone.........
We are now at Woodgate (Google it) and it is magnificent!! 16km of beautiful beach, two creeks to choose from to fish, lovely caravan park. Very nice spot!!!!!
Hope everyone is keeping well and working hard.

We stayed at the Causeway Lake, Emu Park (near Yeppoon) for a week. Very nice spot - lots of people fishing, not a lot of fish caught. One side of the causeway is the ocean, the other side is the lake. About one week a month, on the big tides, the sea floods in and out of the lake. Lots of tiny fish making the dash from the lake to the sea on the incoming tide. Why they don't wait until the tide goes out and just go with it is beyond me.....

We had a great time in Rockhampton. Spent some time with Hannah at the zoo and gardens, walked the streets and looked at the old buildings, went up Mt Archer, stopped in at Mt Morgan - very eerie place with the old closed mine, went to the cattle sales, and just generally looked around. Very nice city.

Bandana Station Sunset
We arrived mid afternoon and we were greeted by Olivia and her dad Bruce. He gave us a cup of fresh brewed billy tea and we were invited to partake of camp oven cooked scones, damper and cakes. There were about 40 people there and we all sat down and Olivia spoke to us all about life on their cattle station.
This was our view as we sat and chatted with our fellow travelers and listened to Olivia. The farmhouse was to the right behind the trees. See the twin peaks in the distance on the left? Well that is about half way down the property!!!!
Bruce and Olivia then entertained us with bush poetry and songs as we watched the sun set. It was one of those amazing experience that will stay with us for a while.

Hi everyone,
We have started our big adventure!! Sold our house, re-homed our son (the cat is looking after him), quit our jobs and are traveling Australia in our caravan.
We started off heading towards Carnarvon Gorge. What a beautiful spot it is. Unfortunately inland Queensland is very dry and it was heartbreaking to see the small towns closed up and no one around. I really feel for our farmers.
We did spend a wonderful afternoon/early evening at Bandana Station Sunsets (right next to Carnarvon Gorge) - very informative and entertaining. We learned all about running a cattle station and life on the land. Well worth doing if you are ever in the area.
After spending a week in Rockhampton we have now reached the coast and are spending some time in the Yeppoon/Emu Park area. Very pretty and so nice to finally be at the sea.
I hope to post often (wifi coverage permitting) and will bore you to death with photos and stories of the people we meet and the places we go. Feel free to leave a comment (keep it nice).
