After spending a few days in Ceduna to stock up we headed across the Nullabor.  What an experience!!!  The first (and only) tourist stop was the head of the bight and that was a sight to see.  Spectacular cliffs with the bluest water I have seen.  Just beautiful.

Then the Nullabor - lots of 'rests stops' for travellers to stop at (no water), regular fuel stops, good road, and a tail wind the whole way.  Looking forward to exploring the south west of WA.

Oh and the border crossing - interesting - car searched, caravan searched, including opening all the cupboards, under the bed, and yes, even checked the toilet!!  Very serious about fresh fruit and vegies!!!!

We stopped in to a little fishing town on a day trip and what a find - we have been here for 10 days so far.  Venus Bay is just beautiful.  The 'town' consists of about 40 houses, a 'shop' and the caravan park.  But the fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It is truly a hidden gem.  The photos say it all......

We are currently doing the Eyre Peninsula.  Beautiful place!!  The weather has settled down a bit and we have moved from Port Augusta, to Whyallah, Tumby Bay and then on to Coffin Bay.  We are travelling with Trish and Chucky at the moment and enjoying their company as well as sharing the love with Bella and Toby (their puppies).  Bella is 11 and a Lhasa Apso cross maltese, Toby is 7 and a Shitzu maltese cross.  They are such characters and they are giving us lots of laughs.  The dogs and the people!!!

We went on a day trip to the Coffin Bay National Park today and it was such a nice day weather wise and we had a great time together.

Looking forward to doing the trip across the bite - hopefully lots of fishing!!

WOW - South Australia's weather is insane!!!  We have spent 10 days holed up at the Maitland Showgrounds waiting out the strong winds and rain.  Fortunately we were behind a big shed which protected us from most of the wind.  So, after 5 seasons of Game of Thrones, we finally coped a break in the weather and headed towards the southern Flinders Ranges.  One free camp spot of the way was at Craddock, a one pub, and nothing else stop.  After looking forward to a counter meal for dinner we discovered that the pub is open every day except Tuesdays.  Guess what day we were there!!!!!!

Onto the Flinders.  What an amazing place.  Lots of wild flowers, lots of old historic buildings and lots of 4WD tracks.  We went on several drives through gorges, along river beds and through creeks.  It was such a beautiful place.  Everywhere you looked was amazing.  Fortunately the weather was lovely the whole time we were there.

We are now heading to Port Augtusta, and the weather is turning windy again.  Just when we thought we could pack away the jumpers.......

Well, we have made our way around the Yorke Peninsula and I must say, it is a very pretty place.  The weather has been a bit windy and cold, but we have still managed to do a bit of sight seeing and fishing.  We have met some lovely locals, and fellow travellers, and stayed in some very nice places.  Lots of little fishing villages, all with an 'historical' jetty to fish off.  We went for a walk on the jetty at Port Victoria yesterday and just as we passed a fisherman, he reeled in a squid.  He then caught 8 more in the space of about 5min - so we started chatting to him, remarking on his amazing fishing abilities.  Yep, he had been there for 3 hrs and this was his first catch!!!!!!  Wayne caught some squid at Wool Bay - and they were very yummy!!!  We are currently up near the top of the west coast of the Peninsula and looking forward to doing the Ayre Peninsula next.

We have finally made it to the big smoke - Adelaide!!!  What a pretty town.  Lots of old buildings next to new skyscrapers and very easy to get around town.  We stayed on the beach and caught the train into the city and several people stopped and asked us if we needed help finding our way.  Either they are very nice people in Adelaide or we just look like QLD's.  I am going with helpful people.  We also did a drive down to Glenelg and looked at the very expensive houses!!!

After a few days in Adelaide we are now heading to do the Yorke Peninsula.  We spent a few nights at a fantastic free camp at Port Parham, and we are now making our way around the Peninsula stopping at all the pretty seaside villages on the way.  The coast line is very different - the tide change is low, however, it is very flat and goes out a very long way.  When the tide comes in it is at walking pace and pretty amazing to see.  It is a very long walk to the water at low tide so the locals have come up with some pretty impressive machines to get their boats out to the water.  Hopefully the fishing will start to be more productive as the weather is warming up nicely.

We have finally made it to South Australia!!  Mount Gambier is a very interesting and pretty place.  Apparently, when you get a giant sink hole in the middle of your town, you plant a garden in the bottom and turn it into a tourist attraction.  Lost of interesting geological facts and sights around town.  We went on a day trip to Port McDonnell and nearly got blown back to QLD - just a bit breezy!!!

We are now following the Murray River (Southern side) inland to Berri, cross the river and then travel the Northern side back to Adelaide.  Hopefully by then the weather will be a bit milder and the fish will come back.  The Murray River is certainly a beautiful part of our Oz.  Lots of free camps, and the council provides ferry crossings at various towns along the river.

We met up with some fellow travellers at Murray Bridge, they are on their way to Canberra (following the Murray).  And guess what - they are local QLD's!!  Both couples have lived at Karalee.  Lovely people!!!  We will be parting ways with them at Berri so - John & Julie, Barry & Susan, thanks for the wisdom, stories, craft sessions, happy hours and mostly, thanks for all the laughs, it has been a privilege travelling with you.

One place on the bucket list well and truly ticked - The Great Ocean Road.  What an amazing place!!!  The scenery is just beautiful, including the small section that goes inland through Lavers Hill - lots of grazing land and bushland.  Every turn of the road brings new and amazing views.  We have spoken to several people on our travels and they said to do TGR from west to east - I disagree.  Travelling from east to west we had pull off sections about every 2km.  Great places to stop and take in the view, but it does make for a long journey if you stop at them all.  We noticed that quite a few of the caravan parks along the way shut over winter, which is a bit bizarre, but we found some great places to stay and then spend the days just driving and looking at all the sights.  We probably have driven the road about 6 times by now!!

It truly is one of the things you just have to do - no other place like it.  Yet.
